On June 5, 1930 my aunt married Jakob Kupferberg an Orthopedic Surgeon and moved
to Breslau. They lived in Breslau until February 28, 1938 when it became urgent to leave
Germany, since my uncle Jakob Kupferberg was Jewish. They used a ship to New York and
immigrated via Ellis Island into the USA and moved to Chicago. Became
citizen of the USA on April 18, 1944 and changed their names to Jacques John Cooper and Jane A. Cooper.
My aunt Jane, usually called "Hanni" was many times homesick and worried about her relatives during world war 2.
Jacques died already May 9, 1952 on a heart failure.

In fall of 1952 my other aunt Erni immigrated also to the USA and Hanni
was happy, that her sister was also living here, even though she moved to
her husband in Omaha. But she was able to see her once in a while.

After my uncle Jacques died Hanni got together with their friend Otto
Kilian who also was a medical doctor. I met Otto right away, when I arrived
in Chicago. He was a very nice guy, came also from Europe and spoke
fluent German.
